PRATEEKSHA began its inspiring journey in 1998, founded by a passionate group of young, socially committed volunteers. United by a vision to uplift the most marginalized communities—including Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes—the organization set out to not only integrate these groups into the mainstream of national life, but to empower them with self-reliance and dignity.

From its inception, PRATEEKSHA has operated as a non-profit, secular, and apolitical voluntary organization under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1980. It has consistently functioned as a dynamic social action group, striving to bring transformative change in the lives of the poorest of the poor. Through cultural, educational, and social interventions, it fosters grassroots participation and raises awareness to improve living conditions.

Over the years, PRATEEKSHA has expanded its reach across Odisha and Chhattisgarh, working closely with Self-Help Groups (SHGs), youth, women, and children. Its mission is clear: to serve neglected and underserved populations in rural, tribal, and underdeveloped regions—offering education, awareness, and hope for a brighter future.
